My Career in Online Poker & Free Poker Sites

Jobs, Careers & Resume Tips...

I've been playing poker since my grandpa taught me how to play when I was 11 years old. I'm married with a baby girl now, and my wife has been getting on me about spending less time at poker tournaments and more time at home. For a professional poker player, you can't just go from playing all the time--all over the world, for that matter--to not playing at all. My wife was serious, however, about keeping my butt grounded, so I started to brainstorm ways I could generate income from the best card game in the world without being away from home. The most obvious solution was, of course, online poker.

With a new baby in the house--nevermind a new house--comes a number of hefty expenses. Not only were funds already tight, but I was in a position to potentially have to work for a new line of work, an idea that makes me cringe since all I know is poker. I felt I had no choice but to give the Internet a try, so I began looking around at some of the top poker sites. I am a long-time fixture in the poker world, but in the virtual world of online poker, I might as well start from scratch. I'm clueless as to how it works or what to expect...I mean, come on, I've been so busy traveling and competing for the last 10 years, I've barely had time to check my email.

The first thing I discovered about online poker was that practically every site offers some kind of "free money" poker bonus. Some of these have really good deals--I couldn't believe it. And with my years of expertise in strategy-building, I was able to build a pretty substantial bankroll using the free poker money in what seemed like no time at all. It became apparent to me that I could really sign up to play on as many top poker sites as I wanted and ride as long as I could on poker bonus chips alone.

After several months of playing online and making the most out of all the free poker money I could get my hands on, I realized that I had developed a strategy that was making me more money than most of the tournaments I had been in during the last few years. I was a poker bonus whore. Not as distinguished of a title as I would have liked, but it was helping pay the bills, along with a few weekend trips here and there. Some of my old cronies began taking notice of what I was up to, and before I knew it, I was getting calls and emails left and right from friends, old competitors, even members of the press who were interested in my modernized techniques of money-making on the poker scene.

I started writing articles about how to build your bankroll with online poker, and how to use free poker money to your advantage. Before long, I was the online poker betting guru--because my strategies had worked so well for me, poker players everywhere were asking for my picks for the top poker sites and my favorite free money poker deals. I miss the casinos and the intensity of tournaments, but I love the new path I've taken in my career, especially since I can spend more time with my wife and baby.

Backgrounds For Employment Be set for What Future Career Managers Might
Do you know what to expect when applying for a new career? Most job seekers are under the assumption that employers only check the references listed on your resume or application. This is an inherently false assumption. A recent People Search News article reported that more than 80% of all business now performs comprehensive background checks on all potential employees, compared to less than half that number 10 years ago. Additionally, the size of the business does not necessarily determine if a pre-employment background check will be performed.
